BAGE forecasts Argentina’s soybean crop at 53.6 mln tons
The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (BAGE) forecasts Argentina’s soybean production at 53.6 mln tons in the 2026/27 season. This would be 3.5 mln tons above the 50.1 mln tons produced in the previous season.
Soybean area could expand to 17 mln ha, up 0.2 mln ha year-on-year. The increase is being supported by strong demand from the crushing industry and risks to corn production from the spread of leafhoppers.
BAGE’s estimate is notably higher than forecasts from other organisations. USDA expects Argentina’s soybean crop at 50 mln tons, while the Rosario Grain Exchange projects only 47.8 mln tons.
The gap between the BAGE forecast and the Rosario estimate therefore reaches 5.8 mln tons. The more optimistic Buenos Aires outlook will largely depend on the actual expansion of soybean area and farmers’ planting decisions.
If the BAGE forecast materialises, a larger Argentine crop would increase global soybean supplies and partly ease concerns over oilseed availability in the new season.
