Azerbaijan increased wheat imports by 29%
Azerbaijan imported 371,801 tons of wheat in January-March 2026.
According to the State Customs Committee, the value of this wheat import was $82,765,000.
This represents an increase of 83,806 tons (29%) in quantity and $20,520,000 (33%) in value compared to the same period last year.
During the reporting period, wheat imports accounted for 2% of Azerbaijan’s total import expenditures.
As a reminder, in January-March of this year, Azerbaijan’s trade with foreign countries totaled $9,407 million, a 21.9% decrease compared to the same period last year.
$5,402 million of this foreign trade turnover came from exports, while $4,050,000 came from imports. Over the past year, exports decreased by 15.4%, while imports decreased by 29.3%.
As a result, a positive balance of $1.398 billion was achieved in foreign trade, up 93.4% from the previous year.
