Argentina’s soybean meal exports approach 3 mln tons in August

Argentina exported 2.98 mln tons of soybean meal in August 2026, slightly above 2.94 mln tons a year earlier. Shipments were supported by strong demand from major importing countries, according to Oil World.

The EU remained the largest buyer, increasing imports of Argentine soybean meal to 740 thsd tons from 710 thsd tons a year earlier. Shipments to Vietnam rose to 410 thsd tons from 360 thsd tons.

Exports to Turkey increased to 330 thsd tons from 230 thsd tons in August last year, while deliveries to Indonesia rose to 270 thsd tons from 240 thsd tons. Turkey recorded the strongest growth among the major destinations.

Argentina processed 4.1–4.2 mln tons of soybeans in August, exceeding the year-earlier level for the fifth consecutive month. Crushing activity was supported by strong export demand for soybean oil and favorable processing margins.

Argentina also benefited from lower sunflower meal supplies from Ukraine and russia. The country exported 430 thsd tons in July–August, up 50% year-on-year, including 265 thsd tons to the EU and 67 thsd tons to the UK. However, Argentine farmers’ sunflower seed sales slowed in early September.
