Argentina’s grain and oilseed sales exceed the five-year average by 25%

Argentine farmers sold more than 105 mln tons of grains and oilseeds in the MY 2025/26 , setting a record for this point in the season. According to the Rosario Grains Exchange, as of October 7, sales volumes were 25% above the five-year average and nearly 6 mln tons higher than the previous record. The record figures reflect strong agricultural production and active crop marketing.

Total sales included soybeans, corn, wheat, sorghum and sunflower seed. According to the exchange, the strong pace of sales reflects an exceptionally productive agricultural season. Meanwhile, farmers are increasingly concluding transactions with prices already fixed, indicating steady trading activity. This trend allows producers to market their crops gradually and plan their cash flows.

Particularly strong activity has been observed in the wheat market. The Rosario Grains Exchange reported an increase in wheat export shipment commitments, primarily driven by demand from Asian countries. This creates additional opportunities for Argentine exporters and supports trading activity. At the same time, substantial grain supplies on the global market are intensifying competition among major exporting countries.

Conditions in the corn market remain less favorable due to pressure on global prices. Following the release of the latest US Department of Agriculture (USDA) report, corn futures on the Chicago exchange fell sharply. These price movements could influence Argentine farmers’ decisions regarding the timing of crop sales and the fixing of contract prices. Nevertheless, record overall sales indicate that the country’s agricultural sector remains highly active.

Argentina remains one of the world’s leading suppliers of soybean products, corn and wheat, making domestic sales trends an important indicator for international grain and oilseed trade. Large volumes of marketed crops create favorable conditions for active export shipments and foreign currency earnings.
