Argentina’s corn production could reach a new record in the MY 2025/26. The Rosario Grain Exchange raised its crop forecast to 70.5 mln tons from 68 mln tons in its previous estimate. The upward revision was mainly driven by a larger-than-previously-estimated planted area.

Corn harvesting is still underway, with farmers having collected around 75% of the planned area. Fieldwork is running behind last year’s pace as unusually wet and warm weather in July complicated harvesting operations.

Meanwhile, analysts have released their first production estimates for the next season. Argentina’s 2026/27 corn crop is forecast at 66 mln tons, with planting expected to begin in September.

Following the record current crop, Argentina’s corn area could decline next season. The Rosario Grain Exchange expects planted area in 2026/27 to fall by 7.3% year-on-year. Soybean production, with planting due to start in October, is projected at around 48 mln tons.

Weather prospects for the new season remain favorable for now. The expected influence of El Niño could provide sufficient rainfall and reduce the risk of moisture shortages during planting and crop development for both corn and soybeans.
