Argentina could harvest a record 157.9 mln tons of grains in 2026/27

Argentina’s grain and oilseed production could reach a record 157.9 mln tons in MY 2026/27, according to the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange. The increase is expected to be driven mainly by larger soybean and corn crops.

Soybean production is forecast at 53.6 mln tons, up from 50.1 mln tons in MY 2025/26. Higher output could support Argentina’s export potential, as the country is the world’s largest exporter of soyoil and soymeal.

Corn production could rise to 66 mln tons from 64 mln tons a year earlier. Argentina remains one of the world’s largest corn exporters, so a bigger crop would add supply to international markets.

Wheat production, however, is expected to fall significantly to 23.4 mln tons from 27.8 mln tons in the previous season. This would partly offset the increase in soybean and corn output.

The outlook remains uncertain and will depend on weather conditions and farmers’ planting decisions. The Rosario Grains Exchange, for example, estimates soybean production at only 47.8 mln tons, while corn output could reach as much as 70.5 mln tons.
