All three grain terminals in Novorossiysk halt operations after drone attack

The KSK grain terminal at Russia’s Novorossiysk port has suspended operations, becoming the third terminal to halt activity following the August 12 drone attack. The Novorossiysk Grain Terminal (NZT) and Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port’s grain facility (NKHP) were damaged earlier. As a result, grain shipments through all three major terminals at the port are currently suspended.

Delo Group said KSK operations were halted to ensure the safety of personnel and infrastructure. The terminal has stopped all grain-related operations, including receiving trucks and railcars and loading grain onto vessels. No timeframe for the resumption of operations has been announced.

KSK is the largest grain terminal in Novorossiysk and one of the key facilities serving Russian grain exports. Its annual handling capacity reaches 9 mln tons, meaning a prolonged shutdown could significantly affect the pace of Russian grain exports through the Black Sea.

Following the attack, Russian Railways also suspended grain shipments to KSK, NZT and NKHP. The disruption therefore affects not only seaborne loadings but also rail deliveries of grain to the port terminals, adding to logistical constraints for exporters.

The shutdown comes as large volumes of the new grain crop are entering the market and could lead to an accumulation of supply within Russia. Novorossiysk is one of the main gateways for Russian grain exports, and a prolonged suspension of its terminals could reduce Black Sea shipments and add pressure to the global wheat market.
