Algeria holds tender for milling wheat
On February 24, Algeria’s state company OAIC conducted a tender to purchase at least 50,000 tonnes of milling wheat of unspecified origin. The wheat was bought at $259–260 per tonne on a C&F basis, while the exact volume was not disclosed. Traders estimate that the total shipment could have reached several hundred thousand tonnes.
The tender terms specify shipment periods from April 16–30, May 1–15, and May 16–31 for wheat of European or Black Sea origin. For supplies from South America or Australia, shipment dates are moved one month earlier.
Traders noted that French-origin wheat was again excluded from the tender, highlighting ongoing trade restrictions and the advantages for other suppliers in the Algerian market.
