ADM, Pepsi and partners support regenerative agriculture practices in Poland

Global agribusiness giant ADM is working in partnership with other leading companies including US food and drink major PepsiCo and confectionery, food and pet food conglomerate Mars to support regenerative agriculture practices in Poland.
As part of the project, support would be provided to 24 wheat and rapeseed farmers on 5,454ha to adopt sustainable applications across their crop rotations, the companies said in their 9 September announcement.
PepsiCo would incorporate sustainably grown rapeseed oil across 2,160ha into its Lay’s and Doritos brands, while Mars would promote regenerative wheat production across 3,359ha for pet care brands such as Whiskas and Pedigree, with ADM enabling sustainable sourcing and the adoption of regenerative practices, the companies said.
In western Poland, the initiative would move beyond single-crop sustainability efforts to focus on a holistic, farm-wide approach aimed at strengthening soil health, improving water management and enhancing long-term agricultural resilience.
In addition, PepsiCo and Mars would work with some of the same farmers to integrate regenerative practices into rotational agriculture, with ADM contributing financial and technical resources to support the transition.
Farmers would also be equipped with the latest agricultural expertise, receiving hands-on training and guidance from technical specialists such as Biospheres.
“Regenerative agriculture is a vital tool for enhancing soil health, strengthening farm resilience and reducing agricultural emissions, which can ultimately benefit farmers and their livelihoods,” said Archana Jagannathan, chief sustainability officer at PepsiCo Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“To drive meaningful impact at scale requires collaboration up and down the value chain. PepsiCo has been partnering with Polish farmers for more than 30 years and this initiative with Mars, ADM and local farmers takes an integrated, systems-level approach that embeds regenerative practices across different crop rotations and supply chains.”
The scheme also contributed to ADM’s global ambition to implement regenerative, restorative, or protective practices over 4Mha of land by 2030, Jagannathan added.
The companies said Poland was a key local benchmark for regenerative agriculture and by leveraging detailed data collection and impact measurement through the Cool Farm Tool (CFT) – a sustainability calculator that helps farmers assess and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions – this initiative would generate insights that could inform future expansion in other markets.
