ADM invests $55.5 mln in protein and enzyme production in the US
ADM is investing $55.5 mln to convert an underutilized fermentation facility in Clinton, Iowa, for precision fermentation. The project will expand the company’s capacity to produce high-value proteins and enzymes for food, feed and industrial applications.
As part of the modernization, the facility will receive new equipment for separation, purification, drying and packaging. ADM will also upgrade existing fermentation equipment, piping and supporting systems.
For the feed sector, the new capacity could be used to produce alternative proteins, enzymes and other functional ingredients for animal nutrition. The company plans to use the facility’s existing infrastructure to manufacture higher-value products.
The project will also receive government support. The Iowa Economic Development Authority approved $2.23 mln in tax credits for ADM under the state’s Business Incentives for Growth program.
The Clinton investment will allow ADM to expand its fermentation capacity and production of proteins and enzymes for various markets. The project is part of the company’s broader development of manufacturing infrastructure and expansion of bio-based production using its existing agricultural processing footprint.
