Abundant moisture boosting wheat yields in Kazakhstan – USDA
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), abundant moisture is boosting wheat yields in Kazakhstan.
The USDA forecasts the 2024/25 wheat harvest in Kazakhstan at 16 million tons, a 32% increase from the previous year. Wheat yield is projected to reach 1.23 tons per hectare, up 33% from last year.
The USDA notes that increased rainfall has significantly improved crop development this season, with vegetation response much higher than average. The satellite-based Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) indicates a strong yield potential?
The USDA’s marketing year for wheat differs from the calendar year. For wheat from Kazakhstan, the marketing year is from September of the current year to August of the following year.
