Poland does not rule out reinstating unilateral ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products if necessary

Poland does not rule out reinstating a national ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products if necessary. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Poland Wladyslaw Kosińka-Kamyś, commenting on the new trade agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, writes Farmer.pl.
“If necessary, we will not hesitate to reintroduce national restrictions, as we have done before. Currently, European restrictions are in force, which are even more advantageous because they do not destabilize the entire market. The blockade in Poland does not mean that grain will not reach, for example, Slovakia or Romania – although Romania and Bulgaria are on our side in this matter. But the problem concerns the entire European market: uncontrolled grain imports hit farmers because they make it impossible for them to sell their harvest on other EU markets as well,” he said.
According to Kosińka-Kamyś, Poland’s goal is not only a national blockade, but “we will demand and support it if such a need arises.”
“But real protection of the Polish farmer requires action at the EU level,” he added.
