2024/25 Argentina Corn 8% Harvested

Mostly dry weather prevailed across Argentina over the weekend and this week should be mostly dry as well. Rainfall should increase in the 6-10 period in western and northwestern Argentina.

The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange is estimating the corn crop at 49.0 million tons, whereas the Rosario Exchange is estimating the crop at 44.5 million tons. In the March WASDE report, the USDA estimated the crop at 50.0 million tons.

Corn in Argentina was 8.1% harvested as of late last week, which represents an advance of 1.4% for the week. The harvest is most advanced in Entre Rios and north-central Santa Fe. Recent rainfall has helped the late planted corn in Cordoba and Buenos Aires although there has been some localized flooding in central Buenos Aires. The average corn yield thus far is 7,880 kg/ha (125.3 bu/ac), which is down 2.1 bushels from the prior week.

Corn in Argentina was rated 23% poor/very poor, 47% fair, and 30% good/excellent as of late last week. The good/excellent percentage is up 1% compared to the prior week. This is the fourth week in a row that the corn condition has improved. Soil moisture for corn is rated 12% short/very short, 84% favorable/optimum, and 4% saturated. The favorable/optimum percentage is up 8% compared to the prior week. Below is the corn condition rating in Argentina for March 12, 2025 from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
