2023/24 Argentina Corn 54.9% Harvested, Yields Declining
The corn harvest in Argentina progressed to 54.9% last week, which represents an advance of 5.6% for the week. The corn is approximately 85% harvested in the core regions, 50-60% harvested in southern Argentina, and 40% harvested in far northern Argentina.
According to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, corn yields now average 6,930 kg/ha (110.1 bu/ac), which is down 2.3 bu/ac from the prior week. The highest yields are from the southern core region at 9,700 kg/ha (154.2 bu/ac) with the lowest yields from northern Argentina at 3,070 kg/ha (48.8 bu/ac). The best corn in Argentina has already been harvested and the nationwide yield is expected to continue declining as the harvest progresses into areas more impacted by corn leafhoppers and corn stunt disease.
The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange left their corn estimate unchanged last week at 46.5 million tons. Below is the corn harvest progress in Argentina for June 26, 2024 from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
