Ukraine could increase soybean exports to Turkey and the Mediterranean
Ukraine could increase soybean shipments to Turkey and other Mediterranean markets when Brazil and the US are unable to fully meet demand, Atria Brokers co-founder and director Yan Kozyrytskyi said during AgroFoodSummit 2026 in Mersin.
According to him, the global soybean market remains highly dependent on developments in Brazil and buying activity from China. This concentration of supply creates opportunities for alternative exporters, including Ukraine.
Demand for Ukrainian soybeans could increase in the event of weather problems in Brazil, logistics disruptions or shifts in trade flows between Brazil, the US and China. Even a relatively small decline in Brazilian production could remove millions of tons from the global market and tighten available supply.
China will remain another key factor, as the pace of its purchases and its choice between Brazilian and US soybeans can influence prices and the availability of supplies for other importers, including those in the Mediterranean region.
For Ukraine, this creates additional opportunities in Turkey and Mediterranean markets. However, logistics and security conditions remain the main constraints that could limit further export growth.
