Ukraine’s agriculture ministry forecasts a 15% decline in autumn planting
Ukraine’s winter crop area could decline by an average of up to 15% this year. The estimate was provided by Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotskyi based on surveys of agricultural producers.
According to him, the reduction will be driven by the current economic conditions facing farmers, although overall it is expected to remain within previously projected levels.
Winter rapeseed planting, one of the most input-intensive winter crops, is already nearly complete. According to the minister, the area under rapeseed has declined by around 7%.
A more significant reduction is expected for winter grains. Vysotskyi said their planted area could decrease by around 17%.
As a result, Ukraine’s winter crop structure is changing unevenly: rapeseed area is declining more moderately, while the reduction in winter grain area is expected to be more pronounced.
