Wheat stocks in Kazakhstan exceed 20 mln tons
As of November 1, 2025, Kazakhstan has a record amount of grain and legume crops stored in it – about 25 million tons, according to the National Statistics Bureau. Of this amount, 21 million tons are food grains, 2.7 million tons are feed grains, and 1.2 million tons are seeds.
The leader among crops is wheat – its reserves have exceeded 20 million tons, which is a record for at least the last 10 years. Of these, 18 million tons are food wheat, 1 million tons are seeds, and 946 thousand tons are feed wheat. At the same time, about 1.1 million tons of durum wheat have been accumulated.
In addition, the country stores 438 thousand tons of corn, 350 thousand tons of rice, 2.9 million tons of barley, and 296 thousand tons of oats. The largest reserves are concentrated in Akmola region – 7.4 million tons, Kostanay and North Kazakhstan – 6.2 million tons each, as well as in Karaganda – 1.3 million tons and Pavlodar – 1.1 million tons.
During the period January-August 2025, Kazakhstan exported 4.8 million tons of wheat and 1 million tons of barley, the National Statistics Bureau notes. Such a high level of internal reserves provides the country with stability in the food market and the ability to meet both domestic and external demand.
Analysts note that the record volumes of wheat are a consequence of high harvests in recent seasons and effective storage management. These reserves can become an important factor in supporting the food security of the region and strengthening Kazakhstan’s position in the world grain market.
