USDA forecasts that this year’s wheat harvest in Ukraine will be the smallest in 13 years

According to the USDA office in Kyiv, the wheat harvest in Ukraine in MY 2025/26 will be 17.9 mln tonnes, the lowest in 13 years and 23% less than last year’s harvest. This was reported by Reuters market analyst Karen Brown.
This is due to the fact that the soils were extremely dry during the sowing season, and low profitability reduced the area under crops.
Russian agencies currently forecast the wheat harvest in 2025/26 MY in the range of 79.7 mln to 82.5 mln tons, the latter figure almost corresponds to the level of the previous year.
“Favorable weather may further improve the condition of crops in both countries and reduce concerns, but the first forecasts are worrisome, especially considering that USDA expects Ukrainian wheat exports in 2025/26 MY to be more than half of the record volume,” Brown said.
