USDA begins preparing November report on US corn and soybean yields
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is gathering survey data for its upcoming crop production report, which will be released on November 14.
This was reported by an official in the department’s statistical division, writes Successful Farming.
The report will include the first updated government estimates of U.S. corn and soybean yields and production since September 12, when most of the harvest in the Midwest had not yet begun. The October crop report was not released due to the shutdown.
Along with corn and soybeans, the upcoming report will include data on cotton, peanuts, potatoes, rice, sorghum, sugar beets and sugar cane.
“We are gathering the necessary survey data and administrative data to support the projections in the report,” said Lance Honig, an official with the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. “We use normal survey collection procedures.”
