USDA again downgraded its forecast for Ukraine for sunflower seeds and oil

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has lowered the forecast of sunflower seeds and its products production in Ukraine in MY 2024/25.

This is evidenced by the data in the USDA report for September.

Thus, the SFS harvest is forecasted at 12.5 mln tonnes, down 1 mln tonnes from the August estimate. Experts left the forecast of oilseed exports at 230 thsd tonnes.

According to the experts, Ukraine will produce 5.226 mln tonnes of sunflower oil in MY 2024/25  (-430 thsd tonnes), of which 4.825 mln tonnes (-400 thsd tonnes) will be exported.

The production of the meal will amount to 5.018 mln tonnes (-413 thsd tonnes), while exports are forecast at 3.925 mln tonnes (-300 thsd tonnes).

Experts forecast the global SFS harvest at 50.553 mln tonnes (-1.96 mln tonnes compared to the previous month’s forecast), oil production – 19.815 mln tonnes (-764 thsd tonnes), sunflower meal – 20.951 mln tonnes (-819 thsd tonnes).
