US State Department: Ukraine’s unblocking of Black Sea ports is a crucial success
Ukraine managed to push the Russian fleet out of the western part of the Black Sea. This is an incredible achievement and an extremely important success for the Ukrainian state.
This was stated by Sonata Coulter, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the OSCE headquarters in Vienna on Tuesday.
“In general, I think the media coverage tends to be too negative and not focused enough on the incredible achievements that Ukraine has made during the war. Let me give you just one example: Russia was trying to monopolize the Black Sea and cut off trade routes, and Ukraine was incredibly successful in pushing back Russian troops and making the Black Sea a sustainable and reliable channel for exporting goods again,” Coulter said.
According to her, the volume of grain and other exports coming out of Ukraine’s Black Sea ports “is just an incredible illustration of one of the really important successes that Ukraine has had.”
The State Department spokeswoman said that over the long term, the United States will seek to help Ukraine gain the capabilities and interoperability it needs “to achieve the integrated, interconnected future that the Ukrainian people want.”
“We, the United States and our partners and allies, are working very hard to provide Ukraine with the support it needs,” she assured.
