Region-wide growth also pushed pork exports to Central America to an annual record in 2024, according to year-end data released by USDA and compiled by the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF).

Pork shipments climbed 21% to 166,086 mt and were valued at $522.9 million (up 29%).

Exports to the region were nearly 30,000 mt above the previous year’s record, and value was more than $117 million above the previous record.

Exports to the region increased by a massive 70% from 2019 to 2024, while export value more than doubled as US pork continues to make impressive strides in the retail and foodservice sectors.

Access to the region is fully duty-free except for Panama, which is inconsistent with its trade agreement commitments with the US and other suppliers.

Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
