US and China to hold trade talks in Geneva

The United States and China have agreed to hold a delegation meeting in Geneva, which should be the first step towards ending the trade war and signing an agreement.
According to Reuters, the United States will be represented at the talks in Switzerland by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant and Chief Trade Adviser Jamieson Greer. Their counterparts are not yet known: it is believed that the main economic adviser to Chinese leader Xi Jinping is Vice Premier He Lifen, who is expected to be in Geneva.
Bessant and Greer will also take the opportunity to meet with Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter to discuss mutual trade issues.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump has expressed his readiness “at some point” to reduce customs tariffs on China.
