On February 15, the State Statistics Service published updated data on Ukraine’s winter grain plantings for the 2021 harvest. Over this past decade, the planted acreage of winter wheat has been varying within 6.1-6.8 Ml ha, i.e. the current estimate of 6.7 Ml ha is the highest in six seasons, UkrAgroConsult reports.
The planted area of winter barley also grew, similar to wheat, the current value is the highest since the 2015/16 record.
The weather developments in most of Ukraine are now favorable – regions exposed to severe frost are covered with enough snow. There is just a slight risk to underdeveloped plants in some southeastern areas.
Given the above-mentioned, we slightly updated our estimates of production and exports of major grains.
