Ukraine’s apple exports to Ethiopia grows more than six-fold

In 2021, Ukraine’s fresh apple exports to Ethiopia increased more than six-fold and reached 222 tonnes.
As the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection informs with reference to the EastFruit portal, Ukraine left behind such large apple exporters as Poland, Italy, China, the United States, and Serbia in terms of supplies to Ethiopia.
As noted, the Service takes measures to expand exports of Ukrainian products, including apples, by agreeing on an assessment of the state control system by the competent authorities of trading partners in the field of quarantine and plant protection.
“Ukrainian products are in demand in many countries and their list is constantly growing. We receive inquiries from businesses to expand markets and actively work towards this issue with partner countries,” said Vladyslava Mahaletska, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
Efforts are currently made to export apples to Israel, Vietnam, China, Egypt, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India.
