Ukraine will export meat to Albania

During a meeting with Albanian Ambassador Ernal Filo, Minister of Agricultural Policy Vitaliy Koval announced Tirana’s interest in importing Ukrainian meat and processed products. In response, Albania is ready to supply Ukraine with vegetables in the off-season.
Ukraine and Albania discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The focus of the talks was on the actualization of common economic interests: both countries have a powerful agricultural potential, which forms a significant part of GDP and provides employment for the population. The common strategic guideline for Ukraine and Albania remains European integration, as both countries have the status of candidates for EU membership.
In 2025, Ukraine focused its state policy on the development of livestock farming, in particular, the production of cattle, red meat and processed products. This is of interest to Albania, where the demand for meat products has increased due to the growth of tourist flows.
In addition to importing Ukrainian meat, Albania is interested in expanding exports of ground vegetables to Ukraine, especially during the off-season period from February to May, when domestic production in Ukraine is declining. To implement these initiatives, the parties are considering the possibility of simplifying trade procedures.
It is worth recalling that Poland is not interested in importing grain from Ukraine due to its own large export volumes. A new trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine should take into account the agricultural interests of the various countries in the bloc.
