Ukraine. The number of grain wagons heading to the ports of Greater Odesa increased by 50% over the week amid increased grain exports
The availability of grain wagons moving towards the ports of Greater Odesa continues to increase. Over the past week, the number of railcars increased from 2,676 to 4,032, an increase of 1356 railcars, or +50.7%. This was announced by Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Commercial Department of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
“The average daily rate of railcar unloading in the ports of Greater Odesa is 379 railcars per day; over the past week, the figure has increased by +54 railcars per day, or +16.62%,” said Tkachev.
During the week, ports unloaded 500-700 railcars per day.
At the same time, the queue of grain wagons heading to the ports decreased by 16% to 1,774 wagons.
The average daily unloading rate of grain wagons at the port of Izmail is 170 wagons per day. Over the past week, it increased by 4.3%.
Earlier it was reported that the queue of grain wagons towards the western border crossings decreased by 27.6% to 2.34 thousand wagons in 25 days of October. The queue of grain cars decreased the most significantly at the Reni-Giurgiulesti border crossing – by 97.8% to 4 cars, Mohyliv-Podilskyi-Velchynets – by 97.6% to one car, Bisarabiansko-Sepneve – by 74.7% to 117 cars, while at Chop-Zahony it dropped to 0.
Ukrzaliznytsia clarified that the reduction of queues in the direction of these checkpoints was facilitated by the intensification of work in the ports of Greater Odesa after the temporary corridor established by the Ukrainian Navy started operating on October 16.
