Ukraine. Spring barley sown areas decreased, while winter barley sown areas increased

This year, Ukrainian farmers sowed 753.3 thousand hectares with spring barley, which is 80.7 thousand hectares less than last year (834 thousand hectares).
AgroTimes reports this with reference to data from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the State Statistics Service.
The largest number of spring barley was sown in:
- Poltava region – 69.1 thousand hectares;
- Ternopil region – 64.1 thousand hectares;
- Dnipropetrovsk region – 59.9 thousand hectares;
- Vinnytsia region – 53 thousand hectares;
- Kharkiv region – 52.6 thousand hectares.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the area under winter barley this year is 611 thousand hectares, which is 44.4 thousand hectares more than last year (566.6 thousand hectares).
