Ukraine prepares for EU inspection to open pork market
Ukraine is preparing to host a verification mission of the European Union, which will inspect the state control system in order to open access to the EU market for heat-treated pork products.
This was stated during the conference by the vice-president of the association “Swine Producers of Ukraine” Oleksandra Bondarska, the press service of the association reports.
She noted that the inspection should arrive in April. Although it is not about raw meat, this step is of strategic importance for the industry.
“Any opening of the pork market for us is already a big progress. Ukrainian pork, having gained access to the European market, will declare itself to the world: what we are, what we can do, that we meet European requirements for quality and safety. And this means that we can be interesting for other countries as well,” Oleksandra Bondarska noted.
The ACS emphasizes that the opening of the EU market – even partial – will be an important signal for international partners and will trigger a “domino” effect in expanding export geography.
