Ukraine. Parliament will return to soybean-rapeseed duties

The Verkhovna Rada failed to adopt the amendment on the introduction of a 10% export duty on rapeseed and soybeans – there were not enough votes for its adoption. The main problem is the lack of public discussion of the amendment with the agricultural community, Oleksandr Haidu, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, told Latifundist.com in a comment during the Agrarian Innovation Forum: New Grain 2025.
“The main thing is that this amendment was not discussed with the agricultural community. Secondly, everything was done too quickly and it did not give an opportunity to understand why it was done. Therefore, the entire parliament was actually divided in half,” he said.
Despite this, Haidu is convinced that the initiative will get a second life – in a revised form.
“I believe that we should support the processing industry of our country… If this amendment is written correctly, everyone will support it,” he said.
He confirmed that negotiations are currently underway on an alternative option.
“Negotiations are underway now. I think there will be some other model of these norms that will satisfy all participants.”
