Ukraine. Large soybean harvest led to lower prices and farmers will return to corn in 2025 – Vysotsky
A large soybean harvest has led to lower prices and farmers will return to corn in 2025. First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotsky told Reuters.
“We see that corn prices are high, while soybeans are falling because we have an overproduction of soybeans. Corn may add 0.5 million hectares in 2025, and soybeans may lose 0.5 million hectares,” Vysotsky said.
He added that in 2025, the sunflower acreage will remain stable at up to 5.5 mln hectares.
According to him, the wheat harvest in Ukraine may increase to 25 mln tons next year due to the larger planted area. The planted area may reach 5 million hectares in 2025, compared to 4.6 million hectares in 2024.
In 2024, Ukraine harvested 22 million tons of wheat, compared to the average pre-war harvest of 25-28 million tons.
Vysotsky noted that most of the planted areas have already sprouted, but the harvest will depend on the weather in winter and spring.
