Ukraine is introducing a national system of food quality and safety control
Ukraine, as a candidate for joining the EU, is introducing a national system of food quality and safety control, the State Consumer Service of Ukraine reports.
It will be similar to the RASFF system (Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed) in force in the EU, the main principle of which is to ensure control “from the farm to the table”.
The purpose of introducing the new system is to ensure effective monitoring of any risks related to food and feed safety, as well as health protection.
Upon receiving the RASFF notification, the State Consumer Service will immediately inform the territorial bodies of the State Consumer Service in the regions and Kyiv, the interregional headquarters of the State Consumer Service at the border and the State Fiscal Service.
In the case of importation into the customs territory of Ukraine and introduction into circulation of dangerous food products or fodder specified in the information notice, the market operator (importer) carries out the recall of such products and takes measures for their return to the exporting country or disposal in the territory of Ukraine in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation , which informs the State Consumer Service.
