Ukraine invites Kuwait to participate in the Grain from Ukraine initiative

Ukraine’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh called on Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mansour Al-Otaibi to participate in the humanitarian program Grain from Ukraine, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a telephone conversation.
The parties exchanged views on the prospects for intensifying cooperation between Ukraine and Kuwait in the political and economic spheres. The Kuwaiti representative emphasized the state’s solidarity with Ukraine in the context of the ongoing armed aggression of the Russian Federation, which is a gross violation of the principles of the UN Charter.
As a reminder, the Grain from Ukraine program for food aid to Africa and Asia was launched on November 26 at the inaugural International Summit on Food Security.
The project envisages that Ukraine will use a portion of its wheat harvest to purchase wheat for countries that are already facing hunger problems. Part of the exported grain can be purchased by the states participating in the project. The program aims to provide at least 5 million people with agricultural products by the end of spring 2023.
