Ukraine increases imports of lard and animal fats by a third
Ukraine imported 10.9 thsd tons of lard, pig fat and poultry fat in January–July 2026, up 31.3% from the same period last year, according to data from the State Customs Service.
In value terms, purchases of these products from abroad also increased significantly. During the seven-month period, the value of imports rose by 36.2% to $12.8 mln.
Thus, Ukraine’s spending on imports of lard and animal fats increased somewhat faster than import volumes. This indicates an increase in the average value of imported products compared with the corresponding period of 2025.
Poland remained the largest supplier, accounting for 60.4% of Ukraine’s imports in this category. Germany ranked second with a 31.3% share, followed by Spain with 7.8%.
Together, Poland and Germany accounted for almost 92% of Ukraine’s imports of lard, pig fat and poultry fat in the first seven months of the year. Overall, the figures indicate a significant increase in Ukraine’s purchases of these products in 2026.
