Ukraine increases exports of vegetable oil to the EU
Since July 1, 2023, Ukraine has shipped more than 1.5 million tons of vegetable oil to the EU market, which is more than 26% higher than the level of the same period last year (1.184 million tons). Such data is contained in the report of the European Commission (EC).
The report says that the exports of Ukrainian sunflower oil to the EU increased by 27% to 1.274 mln tonnes in 7 months of 2023/24 MY from 1 mln tonnes a year earlier. Almost all of the product is supplied to Europe from Ukraine – 92.5%, compared to 89.9% in 2022/23 MY.
The shipments of Ukrainian rapeseed oil increased by 2.1 times during this period – from 45.95 thsd tonnes (16.3% share) to 98.375 thsd tonnes (38.3%). According to the EC, since the beginning of July, sales to Europe have also been increased by the UK (up to 53.95 thousand tons), the UAE (up to 23.5 thousand tons) and Serbia (up to 23.3 thousand tons). At the same time, sales of the Belarusian product to the European market, on the contrary, decreased significantly – from 130.6 thousand tons to 47.6 thousand tons.
As for soybean oil, imports from Ukraine to the European Union slightly decreased over the year – from 137.857 thousand tons (46.2% share) to 128.531 thousand tons (35.9%). Since July 1, the largest amount of this type of oil was imported to the EU from Argentina – 134.5 thsd tonnes, compared to 69.6 thsd tonnes a season earlier.
