Ukraine improving its legislation on seed growing
The Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine has adopted as a whole Draft Law #0029 “On Ukraine’s Accession to the Seed Schemes for Varietal Certification of Cruciferous and Other Oil or Spinning Seeds of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development” (April 30, 2020), UkrAgroConsult reports.
The benefits of the Law’s adoption are as follows:
– a level playing field in the world market of oil and beet seeds;
– varietal certification of seeds according to the OECD schemes, improvement of the Ukrainian seed quality, growth in yields of oil crops and beet;
– meeting export demand and opening new markets
