Ukraine has the most expensive ammonium nitrate in Europe

Prices for ammonium nitrate in ports have already reached 27 000 UAH/t (645 USD/t ) versus 21 000 UAH/t, at which it was sold before the ban on imports through Ukrainian seaports. This was stated by the director of Infoindustry Dmytro Gordeychuk.
The cost of another fertilizer based on ammonia, but with a higher content of it – urea, reached 29 000 UAH per ton versus 27 000 UAH/t before the introduction of restrictions, although this fertilizer is not explosive and is not subject to a ban on import. All because of its small supply on the Ukrainian market, claims Gordeychuk.
“Currently, we have the most expensive ammonium nitrate in Europe. The only comparable price is in Romania. We have a psychological price “ceiling” that the market has hit. There is no point in buying nitrate more expensively for the next sowing season, just as there will be no one to set a price for the product that will be equal to the cost of urea. We need to find ways to resolve these logistical difficulties,” says Gordeychuk.
Gordeychuk reports that active purchases of ammonium nitrate and urea are currently suspended until the situation in the ports is “resolved.” Imports by sea allowed nitrate to be imported at prices 10-20 euros/t cheaper than via land corridors. The situation may stabilize within a month, the expert believes.
OSTCHEM also does not predict further price shocks.
“Currently, restrictions on imports of ammonium nitrate through ports do not affect either the availability of fertilizers or the price level in Ukraine. Saltpeter is freely available in sufficient quantities. The main volume of imports comes via land routes through Poland, which are not subject to restrictions,” the company commented.
They stated that the production capacities of OSTCHEM plants are capable of fully supplying the domestic market with ammonium nitrate.
