Ukraine has increased wheat exports
In April, Ukraine exported significantly more wheat than in March. According to the State Statistics Service, 1.29 million tons were shipped, compared to 803 thousand tons a month earlier.
Since the beginning of the season, exports have amounted to 11.06 million tons.
As reported by Spike Brokers, April was a month of acceleration after a weaker March, but the overall seasonal dynamics continue to depend on the concentration of demand on individual large importers and price competition from the Black Sea region.
Who buys Ukrainian wheat?
According to brokers, the main volume of April exports was concentrated in the direction of North Africa and Southern Europe. The largest buyers were:
- Egypt — 698 thousand tons;
- Spain — 191 thousand tons;
- Algeria — 135 thousand tons;
- Yemen — 54.6 thousand tons;
- Djibouti — 54.2 thousand tons;
- Turkey — 38.9 thousand tons;
- Italy — 36.5 thousand tons.
“This structure makes the Egyptian direction a key factor in the April result,” Spike Brokers noted.
At the same time, the April increase in exports did not have a significant impact on the price increase. Demand was active in specific directions, but overall liquidity remained selective.
Thus, on the Ukrainian physical market, wheat prices remained almost unchanged for the week:
- food wheat was traded at $219/ton;
- feed — $215/ton.
