Ukraine has already sown more than a mln ha of spring grain
As of April 11, farmers in all regions of Ukraine have sown 1,058.6 thousand hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops. Corn has begun to be sown in Zaporizhia.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
Currently, the largest area of crops is barley – 612.2 thousand hectares. Spring wheat has already been sown on 141.1 thousand hectares, peas – 182.8 thousand hectares, oats – 106.1 thousand hectares, corn – 0.02 thousand hectares.
The leaders among the regions in terms of sowing rates were: Odesa – 107.2 thousand hectares, Ternopil – 88.1 thousand hectares, Poltava – 86.3 thousand hectares, Khmelnytskyi – 84.9 thousand hectares. ha and Mykolaiv region – 75.6 thousand ha.
At the same time, sunflower was sown on 51.5 thousand ha, sugar beet – on an area of 76 thousand ha, and soybeans – on an area of 4.5 thousand ha.

In general, in 2025, it is planned to sow about 5.7 million ha of spring grain and leguminous crops, which corresponds to the level of 2024.
However, in the new season, the area under spring wheat will increase to 227.5 thousand ha. This is due to the demand for wheat from processing enterprises and exporters.
As reported, according to forecasts by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, world wheat production in 2025 will amount to 795 million tons, which corresponds to the level of the previous year. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s wheat harvest is expected to be below the five-year average due to the effects of the war and dry weather conditions.
