Corn harvest begins in Ukraine, sunseed yield doubles

As of September 5, 2025, Ukraine has harvested 28.77 mln tons of grain crops from 6.93 mln ha, covering 62% of sown areas. Specifically:
- wheat – 22 mln tons (98%), yield – 4.4 tons/ha,
- corn – 1.9 thsd tons (0%), yield – 4.16 tons/ha,
barley – 5.3 mln tons (98%), yield – 3.9 tons/ha, - peas – 610.1 thsd tons (97%), yield – 2.3 tons/ha.
- Other grains and pulses: 0.78 mln tons from 0.29 mln ha.
Leading regions include:
- Odesa Oblast: 3.45 mln tons from 1.09 mln ha.
- Vinnytsia Oblast: 2.39 mln tons from 0.43 mln ha.
- Kirovohrad Oblast: 2.21 mln tons from 0.54 mln ha.
- Khmelnytskyi Oblast: 2.10 mln tons from 0.30 mln ha.
Rapeseed has already been harvested at 3.2 mln tons (101%) with a yield of 2.55 tons/ha. Soybeans have been threshed at 135.2 thsd tons (4%) with a yield of 1.6 tons/ha.
The sunflower seeds harvest is currently at 208.1 thsd tons (3%) with an average yield of 1.35 tons/ha, a significant increase from 0.86 tons/ha last week. As expected, the advance of the harvest to the northern and western regions, where yields are traditionally higher than in the south of the country, positively affected the overall figure, reflecting higher results on the national average.
Farmers in Vinnytsia and Cherkasy Oblasts have started harvesting sugar beets, collecting 0.04 mln tons from 0.001 mln ha.
