According to the forecasted supply and demand balances of grains and oilseeds for MY 2024/25, Ukraine expects to export 46.9 mln tonnes of the crops.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
“As of December 2024, according to the forecasted balances of supply and demand of grains and oilseeds for MY 2024/25, the export volumes of grains are forecasted at 40.3 mln tonnes, which is 66.7% of the total supply, and oilseeds – 6.6 mln tonnes,” the statement said.
Thus, 16.2 mln tons of wheat, 2.9 mln tons of barley, 20.5 mln tons of corn and about 0.7 mln tons of other grains and legumes will be exported.
At the same time, the country plans to export 3.7 mln tons of soybeans and 2.9 mln tons of rapeseed.
In addition, almost all sunflower seeds (99.5% of the total supply) will be processed in the domestic market and will amount to 10.9 mln tonnes, while the production of sunflower oil is expected to reach 4.9 mln tonnes.
The Ministry emphasized that despite the aggression of Russia, Ukraine remains one of the leading producers and suppliers of certain types of agri-food products in the world, including grains, oilseeds and fruits. The agricultural sector not only ensures domestic food security, but also provides raw materials to processing companies.
According to the Ukrainian Grain Association, Ukraine exported 57.5 million tons of grains and oilseeds in the MY 2023/24, which ended on June 30, 2024.
