Ukraine increases corn shipments to China: 58 thousand tons were shipped in December. As of December 18, total corn exports amounted to 1.3 million tons. This was reported by Spike Brokers.

The previous shipment of Ukrainian corn by Panamax to China was back in April 2025. The total volume of deliveries in the 2024/25 marketing year reached only 190 thousand tons, which is a sharp drop from 4.6 million tons in the 2023/24 marketing year.

The main volumes of corn this season are directed to Turkey (365 thousand tons) and Italy (312 thousand tons).

Europe (40.7%) and the Middle East (40%) dominate the regional structure, with Italy, Spain, Turkey and Lebanon as key destinations. North Africa accounted for about 15% of exports, Asia – 11%, mainly due to China and South Korea. In general, Ukrainian corn demonstrates high diversification and a stable presence in the EU, MENA and Asian markets, brokers note.

A decrease in prices is observed in port directions due to an imbalance between the rates of reception and shipment.

“Slow rates of sea shipment relieve the demand excitement, and the increase in traders’ costs for freight, vessel downtime and operational risks forces them to adjust prices downward. The spot index of corn with delivery CPT-port (30 days) decreased by $2 compared to last Friday to the level of $205,” the report says.

The western border is showing an increase in shipment rates, however, supply pressure and seasonally weak demand from European buyers (Christmas-New Year period) have pushed prices down to €180, which represents a decrease of €5-6 compared to last week.
