Ukraine exported about 1.5 mln tons of rapeseed
Rapeseed futures on the MATIF exchange showed growth last week. The May contract rose to ≈€509, adding about €21 for the week.
This was reported by analysts at Spike Brokers.
The growth in quotes is supported by the increase in prices for vegetable oils and the activity of funds in the grain and oilseed complexes. In the physical market of Europe, rapeseed oil prices rose to €1,145-1,160 FOB (+€60 t/t), reflecting the overall strengthening of the segment.
The old harvest of Ukrainian rapeseed in the direction of Germany was actively traded by railcars with delivery in the range of €515-520 for 40% oil + oil premium. This price level in Germany forms a parity of about UAH 28,000 with VAT from a farm in western Ukraine.
At the same time, rapeseed exports from Ukraine in the current season remain significantly lower than last year. In the period July-February MY 2025/26, seed exports amounted to about 1.5 million tons, while in the same period last season 2.9 million tons were exported. Part of the harvest was processed domestically.
In the period August-February, Ukraine exported about 455.9 thousand tons of rapeseed oil, which is equivalent to approximately 1.1 million tons of rapeseed with an oil yield of about 42%. Thus, the total use of rapeseed through seed exports (1.5 million tons) and processing (≈1.1 million tons) is about 2.6 million tons. With a harvest of about 3.2 million tons, the remaining seeds on the domestic market are estimated at about 600 thousand tons, which creates the potential for further processing or export before the start of the new season.
