Ukraine expects all EU countries to impose a ban on Russian agricultural products
The European Union is officially importing millions of tons of grain from the aggressor country of Russia, while Polish farmers continue to vandalize Ukrainian agricultural products. This was stated on television by Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine.
“In Europe, there is no ban on imports of agricultural products from Russia – neither grain, nor fish, nor vegetables… These goods, perhaps in small volumes, are coming from Russia to Poland. In 2023, 11 thousand tons of wheat entered the country, but the fact is that it is a legal import,” he said.
He added that out of 2.5 billion tons of total agricultural imports by the European Union, 1.7 million tons are Russian goods.
“This means that Russia remains a trading partner for the EU in terms of agricultural products, which is nonsense for us. If there are farmers’ protests against imports, then imports from Russia should be banned,” Kachka said.
He recalled that the Latvian Saeima had approved a ban on the import of Russian agricultural products into the country.
“We expect the European Union member states to take the same measures,” summarized the Ukrainian trade representative.
