Ukraine. Crop condition conditions in late September
Weather conditions. Due to an intrusion of arctic air, temperatures fell sharply after September 20. This was accompanied by strong winds and little or minor precipitation. The first autumn frost was observed on the ground.
Moisture supply. A precipitation deficit persisted in September. Except for local heavy downpours in some parts of the southeastern, western and locally southern regions, monthly precipitation rates were at most 10-20% of their normal values.
Crop condition. Moisture shortage led to extremely adverse conditions for germination and emergence of planted winter crops, including winter rape. They were aggravated not only by a long absence of effective precipitation, but also by low relative air humidity and dry hot winds. The most unfavorable conditions were seen in Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Poltava regions and adjacent areas of other regions, reports UkrAgroConsult.
