Ukraine and Japan will cooperate in modernizing the agricultural sector

Japan and Ukraine are strengthening cooperation in the restoration and modernization of the agricultural sector, in particular through the introduction of innovative technologies and the expansion of joint projects.
This was reported by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
Following the fourth meeting of the Japanese-Ukrainian Joint Task Force on the Strategy for the Restoration of Agriculture (Joint Task Force – JTF), representatives of JICA and JETRO confirmed their readiness to develop partnership initiatives. The meeting was held online with the participation of Ukrainian and Japanese government officials, as well as companies NTC International, Greein Inc., Seiwa Co., Zensho Holdings and Mayekawa MFG, which presented their projects to support Ukrainian agriculture.
“The introduction of Japanese technologies, digital solutions and innovations will accelerate the restoration of Ukraine’s agricultural sector,” said Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Denys Bashlyk.
The Ukrainian side presented an updated analysis of the state of the industry and emphasized that the war led to a reduction in the area of cultivated land, the destruction of infrastructure and a decrease in production capacity, but the agricultural sector remains a key driver of the economy.
The parties also discussed the diversification of export markets with a focus on the European Union, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
