Ukraine. 2018/19 wheat and barley season results
Despite a 2.4% increase in 2018 acreage, wheat production dropped by 5.4%, to a four-year low, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Nevertheless, despite the crop decline and an almost 10% decrease in exports in MY 2018/19, the Ukrainian wheat market made certain achievements this past season.
So, the 2018/19 season sees record wheat exports from Ukraine to Indonesia, the Philippines and Morocco. Alongside this, Ukraine stepped up supplies to Thailand (by 15%) and Libya (by 83%). Egypt remains a major buyer of Ukrainian wheat, steadily importing 1.96 MMT.
Among key buyers of Ukrainian wheat, a decrease is observed in shipments to the European Union (by 45%, South Korea (by 26%), Bangladesh (by 17%).
