In general, the current 2021/22 marketing year is marked by high prices for oilseeds, which will maintain interest in their cultivation. However, the determining factor will traditionally be the crop margins, while there are certain pros and cons.
Sunseed will retain its leading position among oilseeds, but some switch to other crops.
A tight world rapeseed balance combined with other bullish factors has brought this season’s prices up to a record high. The Ukrainian market, which is aimed at export, traditionally follows global trade trends and also experiences record highs. Meanwhile, next season, rapeseed growers may face the risk of a crop recovery, as a consequence of this 2021/22 season’s peculiarities, and its pressure on prices.
The preservation and expansion of soybean plantings next season could be promoted by high cost of mineral fertilizers. In such a situation, long-term planning companies will plant soybeans as a good predecessor, UkrAgroConsult reports.
