UK to give Ukraine two minesweepers for demining

The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with two Sandown minesweepers to improve security in the Black Sea. This is stated in the press service of the UK Ministry of Defense.
It is noted that the ships will be purchased by Ukraine with the help of the UK Export Credit Agency.
British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps confirmed the transfer of two Royal Navy minesweepers to the Ukrainian Navy.
“These minesweepers will provide Ukraine with a vital capability to help save lives at sea and open up vital export routes that have been severely restricted since Putin’s illegal full-scale invasion began,” the minister said.
Strengthening the maritime capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including countering the threat of Russian sea mines, will help restore Ukraine’s maritime exports.
