U.S. Wheat Associates publishes 2025 crop quality report following extensive nationwide analysis
U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) has released its 2025 U.S. Crop Quality Report, marking the 46th edition since the initiative began in 1979.
The comprehensive document, derived from the collection and rigorous testing of more than 2,250 wheat samples across the United States, offers objective insights to help global wheat buyers make informed purchasing decisions while emphasizing the reliability and value of American wheat.
Mike Spier, President and CEO of USW, highlighted the report’s significance in a statement.
“We are happy to share the 2025 U.S. Crop Quality Report, a detailed look at the high-quality wheat grown by U.S. wheat farmers and used by millers and bakers around the world. This USW report reflects not only the quality of the 2025 crop, but also the hard work and commitment of U.S. wheat farmers. We’re proud to share the results of their efforts with our global partners,” he said.
The report is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) export market development programs, in collaboration with USW’s state wheat commission members.
The process commences with sample collection during harvest, followed by analysis at six specialized laboratories nationwide.
This year’s edition incorporates enhancements, including expanded extensograph testing and additional Rapid Visco Analyser (RVA) flour data for both soft and hard winter wheat varieties. Furthermore, it features new data on sponge cake performance specifically for soft red winter wheat.
The compiled results encompass detailed information on wheat grades, non-grade factors, flour characteristics, and end-product performance metrics.
Across all wheat classes, the findings underscore the consistency and dependability of U.S. wheat as a foundational ingredient for various wheat-based food products.
Erica Oakley, USW Vice President of Operations, who oversees the data collection and report production, emphasized the collaborative effort behind the initiative.
“The Crop Quality Report provides data to help wheat buyers make informed decisions and to support our millers and bakers in understanding how this year’s crop will perform in their operations,” he noted.
He added that such a report would not be possible without the dedication of American wheat farmers. It would also not be possible without the months-long partnership between USW, state wheat commission members and our partner laboratories.
“Everyone’s contributions ensure the data we share with customers is accurate, timely and meaningful.”
Looking ahead, USW staff will present the report’s findings at a series of international crop quality seminars, scheduled to include 35 events across 30 countries worldwide.
The 2025 report is currently available for download in English on the USW website at uswheat.org/cropquality.
Translations into Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese are forthcoming. In addition to the main report, USW provides more granular regional analyses for all six U.S. wheat classes, including Desert Durum®, along with a new standalone document outlining the collection and analysis methodologies.
